What an absolute delight it was to stay at your hidden gem accommodation, thank you for your great hospitality and the welcoming we received on arrival, your attention to detail was second to none, the room was 5* and the welcoming touches of a dram and shortbread from local sources was excellent, we’ve told everyone we have spoken to along the RRW about the Old Mill at Acharn how good everything was from your hospitality, the cleanliness of the room to your delightfully plentiful breakfast, I’m sure we will return again sometime in the future.Once again thank you for a great stay.KennyAugust 2024
Thank you for your wonderful hospitality and excellent breakfasts, you’ve made the Old Mill a truly fabulous place to stay. The lift to and from the local restaurant on the evening was very much appreciated.
Quite simply superb. Beautifully decorated and appointed, excellent food and, most importantly, the most thoughtful, attentive and welcoming hosts.

We stayed one night in The Old Mill. The hosts, Alex and Vivien, are really fine ladies. They are sincerely interested in their guests and it is nice talking with them. We mentioned to go out eating and they immediately offered to taxi us! Great… although we drove ourselves. The house is refurbished at a very high standard and is done very tasteful. The breakfast was awesome.Acharn is a very small village but this b&b is a little heaven in Acharn.”Filip & Christine, Belgium, 8th May 2019

Wow! What a fantastic mini-break
I treated my partner to a birthday weekend away – he’s not big into romantic candlelit dinners or spa breaks, but he does enjoy the outdoors, walking and photography, and I like a bit of luxury.
The Old Mill in Acharn was a perfect base for us – a beautiful old listed building in a stunning location; incredible scenery with many photo opportunities, great walking countryside and plenty to do in the vicinity.
Our hosts at the Old Mill were charming, and our room like a little oasis – tastefully decorated and finished with guest comfort in mind (I especially loved the bathroom with its amazing shower and under-floor heating – what a treat!) Thoughtful finishing touches and little samples of local produce added to the whole experience and provided an extra touch of class.
A fantastic breakfast really set us up for the day – you couldn’t ask for anything more…
We would whole-heartedly recommend it and will definitely return.

We have stayed several times at The Old Mill, Acharn and it is now our favourite place in the world to visit!
The accommodation is far superior to any hotel we have stayed in, as every detail is covered from the delicious local shortbread, to plentiful soft towels, comfortable beds and toastie toes in the bathroom from the underfloor heating. Nothing is seemed to be too much trouble for Vivien and Alex, the owners, who not only provided us with delicious filling breakfasts which kept us going until dinner, but as they have visited every eatery and place of interest for miles, they were amazing “trip advisors”.
The local and surrounding areas have a wealth of things to see and do, for people of all ages and abilities. So far we have climbed Ben Lawers, the Monroe across the loch, walked up the hill behind the Old Mill to the breathtaking Acharn waterfalls and Hermit’s cave and visited the local stone circles – the walking choices are infinite. We have taken a boat out on Loch Tay, visited the local Crannog, gone on a Highland Safari, ridden horses through the Tay forest, done white water rafting in Aberfeldy, visited Blair Atholl castle and driven further afield to Inverness and seen the battlefield of Culloden and Loch Ness. Even after all this, there is still so much more for us to do and at least we know when we tell our teenage daughters we’re going back to Acharn, they will literally shriek with delight – at home it’s hard to get them out of bed!! They like nothing more than walking down to the Loch and skimming stones and swinging on the rope swing. Sometimes the simple things in life are the best!
We couldn’t recommend it more highly for a family holiday or short break, we just want to keep going back – and we will!

The Old Mill in Acharn proved to be a great place for us to stay for our girls’ weekend reunion. The rooms were gorgeous and the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, to ease our hangovers, were to die for!
From drinking prosecco at the Hotbox sauna at the Taymouth Marina, overlooking stunning Loch Tay (after plunging into the loch itself!) to having afternoon tea at the beautiful Gleneagles Hotel, we’ll certainly be back again….if they will have us!
