1. Where exactly is The Old Mill Acharn located?
We are situated in the quiet hamlet of Acharn, on the south side of Loch Tay, just 1.5 miles from Kenmore in Highland Perthshire. Our full address is: The Old Mill, Acharn, PH15 2HS. Detailed directions are available on our Directions page.
2. Do you offer parking?
There is guest parking available beside the Old Mill. It is accessible from either direction, and is located to the left of the Old Mill when approaching from the Kenmore direction.
3. Can we bring our dog?
Yes — we are dog-friendly! You’re welcome to bring one large or two small dogs.
Our tranquil woodland, lochside and hilly surroundings offer a wide range of walking routes.
4. What’s included in the room rate?
Your stay includes: a comfortable en-suite room with king-size bed (or twin option), underfloor heating, fluffy bathrobes, toiletries, hospitality tray (tea, coffee, hot chocolate, fresh milk, water), and complimentary treats (shortbread, tablet, local whisky). We also provide Wi-Fi, a fridge, TV, and outdoor seating. A full Scottish (or continental) breakfast is also included. Each room has a bath and a separate walk-in shower. Each room offers direct private access.
5. Do you cater for special dietary requirements?
Yes — we happily accommodate Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and other dietary needs. Please advise us in advance so we can tailor your breakfast accordingly.
6. What times are check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is at 11am, although we can be flexible where possible.
7. Can you accommodate families or groups?
Yes — we offer a family room suitable for two adults and a baby/toddler (camp bed or cot).
As an alternative to a toddler/baby, a third adult can be accommodated on a camp bed for a small additional fee. Please note we cannot accommodate both a baby/toddler and a third adult in the same room.
8. Is there somewhere to store bikes or outdoor gear?
Absolutely. We have secure storage for bikes and outdoor equipment, plus a drying area for boots and wet clothing — ideal if you’ve been hiking, biking or enjoying watersports around Loch Tay.
9. What if we are walking the Rob Roy Way — can you help with transport?
Yes — many visitors walking the Rob Roy Way use The Old Mill as a stop-over. We can often arrange pick-up or drop-off to local access points (subject to availability). Just let us know your expected arrival time ahead.
10. Are there shops or restaurants nearby?
Yes. The village of Kenmore, just 1.5 miles away, offers shops, eateries and a marina for activities. Aberfeldy, about 7 miles from us, has additional amenities including shops, distilleries, cafés, galleries, and local attractions.
We’re happy to offer a lift to any of the restaurants in Kenmore and collect you again when you’re ready to return.
11. What kind of activities and attractions are nearby?
You’re perfectly placed for a range of Highland adventures and scenic experiences: walking around the nearby Acharn Falls, hiking Munros like Ben Lawers or Schiehallion, watersports on Loch Tay, safaris, white-water rafting, spa relaxation at the nearby Hot Box. We’re happy to help you plan your days.
12. How do we book, and is payment required in advance?
If booking via the website, full payment is taken via PayPal at the time of booking. If you need to cancel your booking, we will provide a full refund.
If you call us to make a booking, we ask for a card to secure the booking, but no deposit is required. Full payment is taken on departure. We accept both cash and card payments.
13. Do you accept gift vouchers or special offers?
Yes — we offer gift vouchers, and we sometimes have special offers (for example, stay four nights for the price of three). Please check our current offers page or contact us for availability.
14. Is the Old Mill suitable for those with limited mobility?
Please note: we have some internal stairs — bedrooms are downstairs, with access to the breakfast room via stairs. If you have mobility issues, please contact us to discuss whether a suitable room is available
15. Can we stay longer, or book extra nights easily?
Certainly — we’re very flexible. If you’d like to extend your stay beyond your original booking, just let us know and we’ll check availability.
